Two children die, three injured in alleged family attacks in Ggaba

Two children have died, and three others are receiving medical treatment after an alleged stabbing incident at a family home in Kalungu Zone, Ggaba, Makindye Division, Kampala

Police said the incident happened on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m., with Kabalagala Police Division investigating cases of murder, attempted murder and arson.

According to police, a housemaid was alerted by a car alarm and children crying for help before discovering several children with severe stab wounds inside the house. A 14-year-old girl, Khadija Daizy, was found dead in her bedroom, while 7-year-old Hawa Dalena later died while receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital.

Three other children aged 13, 8, and 5 survived the attack and were rushed to the hospital for medical care.

Police identified the suspect as Namayo Dorothy, a 43-year-old Kenyan national and mother of the victims. She was also found injured and is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.

Residents allege the incident followed a domestic dispute between the woman and her husband. Police and other security agencies are investigating to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
