UPDF officer & private guard die in bar brawl

Katwe territorial police are investigating the double murder of UPDF officer Mubangizi Moses and security guard Otim Huron.

According to Police facts, on February 4, 2023, at around 11 pm, Otim picked up a fight with UPDF officers at a bar and went back to his seat to retrieve his gun.

Luke Owoyesigire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson noted that Mubangizi fought with Otim and disarmed him, giving the gun to another security guard, Wana Simon.

Otim then attacked Wana, took the gun back and returned to the bar where he shot and killed Mubangizi.

The mob, according to Oweyisigire, beat Otim to death. Police then responded to the scene and recovered one gun and one bullet but the magazine was missing.

The bodies were taken to KCCA city mortuary for postmortem while Wana was arrested and detained at Katwe police division for further investigations.

The public has been asked to inform the police promptly of any incidents involving private security guards.
