How police officer knocked former minister’s wife dead
Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura stated that the crash involved a Toyota Harrier, in which the deceased was a passenger, and a Toyota Premio driven by a police officer.
Police in Kampala have launched investigations into an accident in which a police officer knocked and killed Florence Taka, the wife of former Minister of State for East African Affairs, Julius Maganda.
The fatal incident occurred on Sunday evening at Kitukutwe along the Kiwologoma-Nakwero road in Wakiso district, within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura stated that the crash involved a Toyota Harrier, in which the deceased was a passenger, and a Toyota Premio driven by a police officer.
“According to eyewitnesses, the Toyota Harrier had pulled over to the side of the road, and the co-driver (deceased) had stepped out to load food items purchased from a nearby stall. Tragically, the driver of the Premio, traveling in the same direction, lost control and rammed into the Harrier, pinning Taka Florence between the vehicles. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her severe injuries,” Kananura said.
The Premio was being driven by Police Constable Wilber Nuwagaba. Also in the vehicle was ASP Achilles Atwebembere, the Community Liaison Officer for Kira Division Police, who sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
Both vehicles have been towed to Kira Division Police Station as investigations continue.
