Linus Tats seeks legal redress after Scotts Maphuma fails to perform at Linus Tattoo Party

Event organisers behind the popular Linus Tattoo Party have announced plans to pursue legal action following the failure by South African artist Scotts Maphuma to perform at the recently concluded event held at Lugogo Millennium Grounds in Kampala.
In an official statement, Linus Tats said all contractual obligations and payment arrangements for the artist’s performance had been fulfilled before the event, but the singer failed to appear on stage as scheduled.
The unexpected no-show reportedly disappointed hundreds of fans and disrupted part of the entertainment lineup during the highly anticipated party.
“We deeply regret the disappointment experienced by our audience on the night. All arrangements for Scotts Maphuma’s performance were completed in good faith, and his non-appearance was beyond our control,” the organisers stated.
According to Linus Tats, the agreed performance package had been fully settled in advance, including additional requests that arose during coordination of the event.

Linus Tats further alleged that additional financial requests were made again on the night of the event and that the requested funds were wired as part of efforts to secure the appearance.
“Despite all arrangements being fulfilled on our side, including a total payment package that had been agreed and completed, the artist did not turn up for the show, did not communicate to fans, and did not offer any public explanation or apology,” the statement added.
The organisers confirmed that the matter has now been referred to relevant authorities to seek recovery of funds and assess damages resulting from the incident.
Despite the controversy, Linus Tats said the event still attracted a large turnout and featured strong performances from other artists, with fans praising the atmosphere and production quality.
The brand also thanked sponsors, partners, and supporters for maintaining confidence in the event, promising to strengthen coordination and execution for future editions.
Industry observers say the incident highlights growing concerns within Uganda’s entertainment sector regarding performance contracts, international bookings, and accountability in event management.
Linus Tats said it remains committed to professionalism, transparency, and delivering high-quality entertainment experiences, adding that preparations for future events are already underway with plans for stronger international collaborations.
