UEDCL begins refurbishment of Mutundwe-Mityana 33kV power line

The company said the refurbishment is expected to be completed within eight months and customers will receive updates on progress and any further planned outages.

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has started the refurbishment of the Mutundwe-Mityana 33kV distribution line in a move aimed at improving electricity supply reliability along the Mityana Road corridor and surrounding districts.

The project, which serves areas including Mityana, Butambala, Gomba and Kassanda, is expected to enhance voltage regulation, improve power quality, increase network capacity and reduce technical losses on the feeder.

UEDCL said the works will require scheduled power interruptions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm until July 31, 2026, starting Wednesday, July 22.

The affected areas include Bulenga, Buloba, Bujjuko, Buyala, Muduma, Kitalya, Zigoti, Tanda, Kabule and other communities along the corridor.
