UCIFE 2026: Industry players seek digital solutions to transform construction sector
Panelists highlighted a number of benefits to companies that adopt digitalization including efficiency, improved safety and sustainability and resource optimization.

The Members of Uganda national association of builders , suppliers and engineering contractors and its partners including government representatives and Sponsors have emphasized digitalization and innovation in construction and infrastructure.
The call was made by different experts in construction during the first day of panel discussion at the Uganda construction and infrastructure forum and exhibition 2026 at Kampala Serena Hotel
The forum brought together industry leaders, policy makers, proffesional contractors, innovators and other key stakeholders to explore opportunities in construction and infrastructure development.

In his remarks the minister stated that Uganda needs better infrastructure not simply infrastructure.
” Uganda doesn’t need simply more infrastructure, we need infrastructure that is better planned, delivered faster, built to the required standards, digitally enabled and financially sustainable and capable of generating greater value for Uganda, said Julius Wandera Maganda the state minister of Works and Transport.
“Under the theme harnessing digitalization and innovation in construction and infrastructure development, UCIFE 2026 brings together government industry stakeholders to turn ambition into practical action through innovation, Julius Wandera Maganda added.
The panelists emphasized that digital transformation requires the integration of different platforms, people, processes and procedures.
Digitalization is not simply having software in place rather people, systems and procedures work together to achieve meaningful digital transformation.

For the women in construction, infrastructure and energy forum was held under the theme women driving innovation in construction, infrastructure and energy and is expected to bring together accomplished women and industry leaders to discuss innovation, leadership opportunities and the growing contribution of women to Uganda’s construction, infrastructure and energy sector.
Across Uganda many schools, hospitals and health centres are still operating in ageing buildings and with asbestos roofing and through the contractors run 2026 UNABSEC sseks to mobilize stakeholders to support the phased replacement of asbestos roofing promoting safer schools, healthier facilities and improved wellbeing across Uganda.
