Nakalema challenges public servants to lead with integrity and purpose
Nakalema said the positive feedback from members of the tribunal made the engagement fulfilling, reaffirming a shared commitment to ethical leadership and responsible public service.

Col. Edith Nakalema, head of the State House Investors Protection Unit, has urged public servants to embrace integrity, accountability and selfless service as foundations of ethical leadership.
Nakalema made the call during an engagement with Dr Rose Karugonjo, chairperson of the Leadership Code Tribunal, held under the theme “Leading with Integrity, Serving with Love and Leaving a Legacy of Purpose.”
She challenged leaders to uphold the principles they enforce and demonstrate ethical conduct in their daily responsibilities, stressing that leadership should be measured by its positive impact on people and institutions.
“Let your conduct inspire the standards you enforce, let your service reflect the values you uphold and let your legacy be measured by the lives you have positively influenced,” Nakalema said.
She emphasised the importance of ethical courage, fairness and accountability in strengthening public institutions and building public confidence in government.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to reflect on the role of integrity in promoting people-centred public service and inspiring future generations to serve with purpose.
Nakalema said the positive feedback from members of the tribunal made the engagement fulfilling, reaffirming a shared commitment to ethical leadership and responsible public service.
At the State House Investors Protection Unit, she noted, these principles guide efforts to protect investors, build public confidence and promote a secure and transparent investment climate in Uganda.
The engagement comes amid continued emphasis on accountability and ethical conduct in public service, with institutions such as the Leadership Code Tribunal playing a role in promoting standards of conduct among public leaders.
Nakalema urged leaders to lead by example and serve humanity with love, dedication and intentionality, noting that lasting leadership is defined not merely by positions held but by the positive legacy left behind.
