Distribution of electricity to lead to fast development

Opolot says government is ensuring wide electricity coverage across the country.

The Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development, Okaasai Opolot, has revealed that the distribution of electricity in the country will lead to fast development of other sectors in the economy.

While officiating at the launch of electricity extension services in Kibaare parish Rwampara district , Opolot says government is ensuring wide electricity coverage across the country.

“Electricity extension services have been launched in Kibaare parish Rwampara district to enhance wide electricity coverage across the country. Rwampara district is set to receive two thousand free connections of electricity through the Electricity Access Teller project,” he said.

According to Opoloti, government is targeting attainment of wide electricity coverage to boast regional development

Julius Yazookire, an Engineer at the Ministry of Energy And Mineral Development under the rural electrification program, said the commissioning of this project is intended to create awareness about this electricity

Meanwhile, Rwampara East Member of Parliament, Julius Tusiime Karuhanga, noted that the rural electrification program is a government program aimed at ensuring every homestead gets access to electricity not only for lighting but also to add value on their produce and enhance quality so as to increase household income.

“I appealed to the community to engage in skilling activities if the area is to attain industrial development,” he added.
