Heavy downpours kill 179 in Niger

A total of 179 people have been killed in heavy downpours in Niger since June, the country’s General Directorate of Civil Protection said Friday.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Action and Disaster Management has made available last weekend to the people of Angoual Zoulou, located in Zinder, food support of 185 bags of rice, 185 bags of millet and 166 bags of beans.

In 2021, summer rains caused 77 deaths and affected 250,331 people in Niger.
