Ugandans, especially those who support the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are celebrating the birth date of the ruling party’s founder and chairman Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, also the president of Uganda.
The president in a message to Ugandans joined those Ugandans celebrating his 78th birthday that follows on 15th September every year.
“It has been God that has protected me all this time and blessed the NRM to be able to realize a lot of achievements,” the president said. God has also blessed my family in all these years, he said.
“I thank Maama Janet for looking after the children when we were fighting. I salute the NRM fraternity for their support, as well as saluting all Ugandans for whatever good work they are doing,” he added.
“My appeal to all Ugandans, again, is that each and every adult should strive to be either a wealth and job- creator or a worker if you still have the energy (not too old- e.g. 90 years and above),” he counselled.
“If all the still active adults engage in wealth and jobs creation as advised above, they will be able to look after the children- school and pre-school better,” the president elaborated.
Many Ugandans took to social media to celebrate the president’s birthday including First Lady Janet Museveni, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, government officials and citizens.
In a message on Twitter, the First Lady wished her husband and father of their children a ‘happy, happy birthday. I know God will bless your days and your life as we continue on this our journey, she posted on the social media platform.
The Prime Minister in a similar spirit wished the president a very happy birthday. “On this day, I wish our visionary leader, our Ssabalwanyi, our great champion of freedom, democracy, transformation & empowerment, the fountain of honour HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni a very happy birthday.
The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, also used social media to send out her birthday wishes to the president. “Happy Birthday to the Father of the region, the leader of our revolution, and our trusted President H. E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. May the Lord grant you many more years to steer our steady progress,” he posted.
