Kawempe police arrest tiktoker ‘Chicken Chicken’ after viral video showed him vandalizing comedian Shawa’s car

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the arrest, saying detectives moved in after the footage gained public attention online.

Police in Kawempe Division have arrested Katongole Anthony, popularly known as “Chicken Chicken,” over allegations of maliciously damaging a motor vehicle belonging to a city resident.

The arrest follows the circulation of a viral video on social media allegedly showing the suspect damaging a Toyota Mark X registration number UBM 696S owned by Sali Sharif, commonly known as “Shawa Shawa.”

According to police, preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred within Kawempe Division and involved the deliberate destruction of parts of the vehicle. Authorities have not yet revealed the circumstances that led to the incident, but investigations are ongoing.

“The suspect was arrested in connection with malicious damage to a motor vehicle after a video circulated on social media allegedly showing him vandalising the car,” Kawala said.

The incident has sparked discussion online, with many social media users calling for accountability and urging authorities to take swift action against acts of violence and property destruction.

Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and allow investigations to proceed, warning against taking matters into their own hands during disputes.

Katongole remains in police custody pending further investigations and possible prosecution.
