Old Kampala Police makes break through on Masanafu , Kanonya murder

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO Kampala Metropolitan, noted that initial facts indicated that On the morning of December 28th, 2022, unidentified individuals attacked Ricky at his residence, hitting him several times and allegedly robbing the house before fleeing the scene.

Old Kampala Police station has confirmed the arrest of 15 suspects who were behind the murder of Kabagambe Riky, a 28-year-old resident of Masanafu Kinonya zone in Rubaga Division, Kampala District.

The arrest follows information recievd by authorities that the brother of the deceased had been spotted in nearby houses, 400m away from the crime scene.

He said police were later notified of the incident and arrived at the scene to find Ricky in a pool of blood with a hammer nearby and an empty box suspected of containing his savings smashed and its contents missing.

Upon receiving information about the brother’s presence near the crime scene, Oweyisigire said, “the police raided the location and arrested 15 suspects, including Ayagamba John the brother of the deceased and Mwerinde Bright, who was found with, suspected blood stains on their clothing,”

He noted that Tumwebaze Sumson had shoes with suspected blood stains, and Tumusime Silver had a jacket with suspected blood stains.

“The police also found suspected blood stains on the front porch of the suspects’ residence. The recovered exhibits, including blood samples, bloodstained clothing, shoes, and the suspected murder weapon(hammer), will be submitted for forensic analysis,” he added.

According to Police, all 15 suspects are currently being detained at Old Kampala Police as the investigation continues. The body of the deceased has been transported to the City Mortuary in Mulago.
