Police to arrest Ugandans trolling Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja online

In a statement dated October 25 2023, the Office of Prime Minister Spokesperson Charles Odongtho noted that there have been increased attacks against the Prime Minister especially through faceless media accounts.

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to carry out investigations to establish those sharing what she called false and malicious content about her on social media.

In a statement dated October 25 2023, the Office of Prime Minister Spokesperson Charles Odongtho noted that there have been increased attacks against the Prime Minister especially through faceless media accounts.

“The most recent of such smear is a video that has gone viral on social media with a face that seems to resemble that of the Prime Minister,” he said.

Odongtho stated that whereas Nabbanja denied being the lady in the video, some opponents have allegedly gone ahead to widely spread the video claiming it is the Prime Minister.

“Today, the Prime Minister has reported the matter to the IGP with a view of asking the Criminal Investigations Directorate to carry out a thorough investigation, establish those behind the wide sharing of such false, slanderous and malicious content, what their motives are and ensure they face the law,” Odongtho said.

He however said Nabbanja insists that even when the intentions of such hateful actions seem to be to divert her from her work, she will stick to her primary mandate.

“The public is hereby called upon to disregard the circulating video with all the contempt it deserves,”
