Uganda Cranes relocates from Annaba to Algiers

Uganda Cranes put up a resilient performance on Wednesday at the 19th May 1956 Stadium, Annaba, to overcome Senegal at the ongoing CHAN in Algeria with a 1-0 win.

Uganda Cranes contingent has safely arrived in Algiers, the Algerian capital, and checked in at Golden Tulip Royaume Hotel, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has said.

In Algiers, the team has been welcomed by Uganda’s Ambassador to Algeria, Alintuma Nsambu. Uganda Cranes has been stationed at the Ben Mustapha Aouda Hotel, in Annaba city.

Uganda Cranes is in Algeria to take part in the African Nations Championship, a continental football tournament that attracts national teams with only players playing in domestic leagues.

The team is scheduled to conduct its first training in Algiers at Annex 1 Baraki Stadium Friday night ahead of the encounter against Ivory Coast in the last Group B game.

Uganda, which currently tops the group with four points will play its final Group B game against Ivory Coast on Sunday (10 PM EAT) at Nelson Mandela Stadium.

Skipper Milton Karisa scored the lone goal of the game to guide the Cranes to victory.

This is only Uganda’s second victory at the biennial Championship and the first since 2014 when the Cranes defeated Burkina Faso 2-1.

Earlier, last Sunday, Uganda Cranes managed to contain a rough DR Congo to register a 0-0 draw in their tournament opening match.
