Pearl Bank Uganda secures full regulatory approval in transition from PostBank

Pearl Bank Uganda Limited has officially received its operating license from the Bank of Uganda (BoU), marking a pivotal moment in its transition from PostBank Uganda Limited to its new identity. The symbolic handover was made by BoU Governor Dr. Michael Atingi Ego to Julius Kakeeto, the Managing Director of Pearl Bank Uganda.

The official recognition came during a courtesy visit by Kakeeto to Dr. Atingi Ego at the Bank of Uganda headquarters on Monday, 24^th November 2025. This formal step signifies the culmination of a comprehensive rebranding process and the rigorous regulatory approval by the central bank.

Kakeeto, on behalf of Pearl Bank Uganda, extended heartfelt appreciation to the Governor and the entire Bank of Uganda for their “consistent guidance and support throughout this rebrand process.”

He noted that the central bank’s “oversight has ensured a smooth and compliant transition,” reinforcing public trust and confidence in Pearl Bank as a “fully licensed, fully regulated Ugandan financial institution.”

Despite the name change, Pearl Bank Uganda is keen to reassure its customers and partners that its core identity and ownership remain unchanged. “Nothing about our ownership has changed,” stated the bank following the handover. “We remain 100% government-owned, grounded in the same mandate, and committed to the purpose we have carried for decades.”

Looking ahead, Pearl Bank Uganda reiterated its steadfast promise “to foster prosperity for Ugandans.” This commitment includes expanding access to financial services, supporting enterprises across various sectors, and delivering innovative solutions designed to help individuals, communities, and businesses grow and prosper.

The formal licensing marks not just a change of name but a renewed commitment to financial inclusion and national development under the banner of Pearl Bank Uganda, ready to embark on its next chapter of service to the nation.
