Stakeholders urged to unite to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem

KAMPALA, Uganda — Stakeholders in Uganda’s innovation sector have been urged to break institutional barriers and work together to accelerate technological advancement and national development.
Hon. Eng. Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki called on universities, innovators, government institutions, the private sector, and development partners to embrace collaboration and avoid working in isolation.
Akiiki said a coordinated approach among key players would help reduce duplication of efforts, encourage the sharing of ideas and expertise, optimize resources, and speed up the commercialization of research and innovations.
“Stop working in silos. Let the entire innovation ecosystem work together. By collaborating, we avoid duplication, share ideas, maximize our strengths, and deliver greater impact for Uganda,” Akiiki said.
He emphasized that building a strong and sustainable innovation ecosystem requires collective responsibility from all stakeholders to turn research and creative ideas into solutions that address national challenges.
The call comes amid efforts to promote innovation-driven development by strengthening partnerships between academia, government, industry, and other actors to support Uganda’s economic transformation.
