Health facility upgrades in Hoima, Masindi progress ahead of 2027 AFCON
The upgrade of Buseruka Health Centre III to a Health Centre IV has taken shape, while ongoing construction activities are also being carried out at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and Masindi General Hospital.
Construction works to expand and rehabilitate key health facilities in Hoima and Masindi districts are progressing steadily as Uganda prepares to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The upgrade of Buseruka Health Centre III to a Health Centre IV has taken shape, while ongoing construction activities are also being carried out at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and Masindi General Hospital.
The projects, launched in June, are part of broader government efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure ahead of the continental football tournament, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.
Upon completion, the upgraded facilities are expected to enhance emergency response, specialised medical services, and healthcare delivery in the region, providing long-term benefits beyond the AFCON event.
The works are scheduled for completion by December 2026.
