Ethiopia targets 800 million seedlings in nationwide green legacy drive

Authorities have called on Ethiopians from all walks of life to participate throughout the day and contribute to building a lasting environmental legacy for future generations.

Ethiopia has launched its annual nationwide tree-planting campaign under the Green Legacy Initiative, with a target of planting 800 million seedlings in a single day.

The initiative, now in its eighth year, continues to mobilise citizens across the country to support environmental conservation and promote a greener, more sustainable future.

Government leaders, including First Lady Zinash Tayachew and members of the COP32 National Steering Committee, joined communities in planting seedlings as part of the national effort.
