CONFLICTED: Uganda Airlines CEO Bamuturaki Handed Over To Parliament Police To Record Statement
The committee also learnt that in 2019, Bamuturaki tried to change her when she registered a Deed Poll changing her name to Jenifer Arnold Lenkai. She, however, said she didn't conclude the process of changing names because she changed her mind.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Uganda Airlines Jenifer Musiime Bamuturaki and former CEO Ephraim Bagenda have been handed over to Parliament police to record Statements over matters of conflict of interest and inconsistencies in their statements.
The directive for the two to record statements with the police was given by the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE) which is investigating the mismanagement of Uganda Airlines on Thursday.
The Chairperson of COCASE Joel Ssenyonyi said the committee found conflicts of interest and inconsistencies in both of their statements.
Bamuturaki was irregularly given the Uganda Airlines CEO job by President Yoweri Museveni even though she hadn’t applied for the job which had been advertised by the board.
This appointment was highly contested by the public who called the president’s decision a violation of the due process.
Since then, Bamuturaki’s stay at Uganda Airlines has been controversial and this week, Parliament learnt that as CEO she earns an astronomical salary of Shs87m per month.
Today, Bamuturaki shocked the committee when she said that ever since she graduated in 1994 from Makerere with a degree in Social Works and Social Administration (SWSA) she has never picked academic transcript from the university – 28 years later.
She also said she lost her UCE result slip and doesn’t have it.
