Museveni goes vote hunting in Serere County by-election

The President is expected to hold two rallies as he seeks for support of the NRM candidate.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is the chairperson of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has set foot in Serere County to canvass support for the Party flag bearer in the Serere county Parliamentary by-election, Philip Oucor.

The President Tuesday afternoon arrived at Sapir Primary School in Ocaapa Town Council, Serere District, to NRM supporters ahead of the voting scheduled for Thursday 23rd February 2023.

The President is expected to hold two rallies as he seeks for support of the NRM candidate.

The NRM Director for Communication, Emmanuel Dombo, said Museveni will hold the first rally at Sapir Primary School in Ocaapa town council, where he is scheduled to meet leaders from Ocaapa town council, Kyere and Kateta sub-counties.

Later in the afternoon, Museveni will hold the second rally at Serere district grounds in  Serere town council where he will address leaders from Atiira sub-county and Serere town council.

Museveni is expected to guide the local leadership on key issues and also highlight the key government achievements that have been registered in the district.

The Chairman’s visit to Serere follows two weeks of vigorous campaigns that have been spearheaded by party leaders including Hon. Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde (Director for Mobilization), Hon Emmanuel Dombo (Director of Information and PR) among others.

Oucor is tussling it out with four other candidates in the race who include; Emmanuel Omonding, Independent, Alice Alaso for Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Emmanuel Eratu of Forum for democratic change (FDC), and Eng. Oungricho Martin, who is also independent.
