Man attempts to burn himself after rejection from married woman
"After seeing her yesterday at a bar with the husband, he got frustrated, poured paraffin on himself in a bid to take his life," Owoyesigyire said.
Police is investigating an incident where a man in Nansana municipality, Nsumbi zone attempted to burn himself to death after being rejected by a married woman.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said that a one Kasirye Faizal had spent months pursuing Nali, a married woman, to fall in love with him.
However when she rejected his proposals, he tried to commit suicide by burning himself.
He noted that Kasirye, a 26year old bricklayer, used to escort Nali back home whenever she was from work.
“It is alleged that he poured parrafin all over his body and picked a matchbox to set himself on fire. Fortunately, he didn’t die and we picked him and took him to hospital for medication,” Owoyesigyire said.
Owoyesigyire further highlighted that when interrogated, Faizal confessed that he has been pursuing a married woman only identified as Nali for quite some time but that she had refused to accept his proposal to be in a relationship with him.
“After seeing her yesterday at a bar with the husband, he got frustrated, poured paraffin on himself in a bid to take his life,” Owoyesigyire said.
Meanwhile, Nali on the other hand also confirmed to Police after investigations that indeed Kasriye tried to pursue her.
“She admitted that for long, Kasirye escorted her whenever she left work to return home and pestered her for love. Nali said she turned down the request for she is married.”
A case of attempted suicide has been registered by police as Kasirye is still undergoing treatment at Kirudu hospital.
He called upon the public not to committee suicide because of being rejected, saying that If one gets lucky to be accepted, it is their luck.
