A 34-year-old man from Naminya in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, is receiving medical treatment after he was allegedly scalded with hot water by his wife during a domestic dispute
The victim, identified as Williams Kato, told local authorities that the incident happened around midnight last Wednesday at their home following an argument with his wife. He reportedly sustained serious burns on his upper body and legs.
Kato said he cried out for help after the incident, but his neighbours did not respond because they were asleep. He said assistance only came after daybreak when people became aware of what had happened.
According to reports, Kato alleges that his wife poured hot water on him and also assaulted him during the confrontation. The matter has drawn attention to concerns over domestic violence and the need for peaceful conflict resolution within families.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish what led to the confrontation between the couple.
Cases of domestic violence remain a concern in Uganda, with stakeholders continuing to call for communities to report abuse and seek lawful ways of resolving family disputes rather than resorting to violence.
