People in the Bunyoro region have been requested to keep calm and continue preparing to participate in the oil and gas activities despite calls by the EU Parliament to suspend the projects.

Oil projects worth about $20bn have come under severe criticism from energy activists who want them stopped. The EU Parliament on 15 September 2022 agreed to stinging measures against the projects.

While Speaking to Journalists, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Hoima East Division, Kasigazi Donanto, said most of the allegations about the oil projects like EACOP are unjustified.

He said the government and oil companies have continued with the process of oil extraction.

Kasigazi further said they are aware of the anti-government people who are spreading false information regarding the EACOP project.
