Generous NUP stalwart and Nakawa East Member of Parliament (MP), Eng Ronald Balimwezo, has vowed to arrest and imprison all beneficiaries who immediately sell off or even cook and eat the birds he donated to them to generate income.
Balimwezo clarified to the beneficiaries the intention of his charity as being the need to use the same to generate income and then keep multiplying the money.
The legislator, through his foundation of Balimwezo Community Foundation, recently gave out a total of 3, 000 chicks to Nakawa East Farmers Forum.
The function was held at Kiswa community centre. The chicks given out were of the Indian origin Kroiler breed. Every farmer got 4 boxes of chicks; each containing 50 (50×4=200 Chicks).
“Be sure, we shall find time and pay surprise visits to see if you have sold off the stock or even carrying out proper attention of the same,” Balimwezo warned.
He assured the beneficiaries not to mind about where to sell the finished products since he will be on the lookout for the market himself. “I will use my good connections to take care of the issue of the market for your finished products”, he allayed the fear regarding the issue.
Geoffrey Kalule, an expert in agro and poultry, was hired by Balimwezo to give first hands-on skills to the lucky constituents.
Betty Nandawula, on behalf of the beneficiaries, lauded Balimwezo for living up to the campaign pledge of empowering his constituents.
