Male Ebola patient runs away from Kamuli hospital
Source in Kamuli say the patient was being prepared for transportation to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for further management.
The Ebola Virus Disease continues to spread across the country despite efforts by the government to curb the dangerous disease.
This comes after the minister of health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, announced that a fatal Ebola case had been registered in Jinja district, which neighbours Kamuli district in Busoga.
Now, the news reaching us is that an Ebola patient (confirmed case) registered in Kamuli Hospital has run away from the medical facility.
Sources in Kamuli say the patient was being prepared for transportation to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for further management.
The patient, a male adult from Kagumba sub-county in Kamuli district, jumped on a boda boda and vanished to a yet-to-be-known destination.
On November 13, 2022, Dr Aceng, announced that they had a confirmed fatal Ebola Virus Disease case in Jinja district.
The victim was a 45-year-old male in Kayalwe B village, Buyengo Sub County. He was linked to a probable case who happened to be his brother.
“The brother, who is linked to the Rubaga cluster travelled to Jinja where he was ill for ten days and passed on the 3rd of November. The confirmed case also died at his home on 10th November and was buried on 12th November,” the minister revealed.
Adding: “A sample was obtained on the 10th from the dead body by health workers from St Catherine Medical Center, Luzinga – Buwenge, a private clinic where he had south treatment before passing on. Contact tracing and epidemiological investigations have been activated.
